Pan Sonic are a 15 piece Bristol based community steel band. Established in 2006 we have been performing in and around the Bristol area for over 12 years.
We started out as an evening class at Cotham School but quickly established ourselves as a gigging band, our first gig was in the foyer of Cotham School supporting the Cotham students in September 2006. Since then we have performed at numerous events including up at the Downs (for the Jubilee Celebrations), at Millennium Square (for the Millennial celebrations), at St Paul’s Carnival and Redland May Fair.
In 2018 we were delighted to be awarded an Originators Grant to allow us to buy our own set of steel pans and set up as a community band. As a community steel pan band we feel we add to the artistic and cultural composition of the community and we enjoy playing at all types of events ranging from weddings to parties, festivals and fayres.
We have a sister band, called Panning For Gold, who are a beginners group. Both bands welcome new members when we have availability and we promote equality and diversity in all our activities.
We play a mixture of music, Calypso, Reggae and chart hits old and new. See some examples of our play lists and some venues where we have played.
